It is hard to believe that the dancing year is almost over! We
would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our students
and their families a very happy holiday season.
We look forward to sharing a fantastic 2012 with you all.
RE-ENROLLING
All students should have received a timetable and
suggested program for 2012. Classes will fill quickly so we strongly
encourage you to get these into us before our last day on Saturday
17th December.
We will re-open for new enrolments the week before
classes begin for 2012 as follows:
Monday 30th January & Tuesday
31st January 11am-4pm
Wednesday 1st February, Thursday 2nd February & Friday 3rd
February 2-7pm
Please encourage anyone who is interested in joining CDDC to come
and see us then.
Classes resume on Monday 6th February 2012.
AWARDS DAY CELEBRATIONS
We invite everyone to come along to our end of year Awards Day
Celebrations. This will be held on our last day of term Saturday
17th December and is a super way to top off what has been a fantastic
year.
Junior Awards 11.30am-1.15pm
Tiny Tots, Level 1-2-3 & Junior Beginner, Intermediate Advanced
Ballet, Jazz & Tap.
Students receive their year certificate
and special achievement awards followed by a ‘bring a plate’ celebration.
Senior Awards 3-5pm
All other classes awards ceremony followed by a ‘bring a plate’
late afternoon tea.
We are proud to announce our new
partnership with AIE - Academy
of Interactive Entertainment - who are sponsoring three special
awards, CDDC Achievement Award, CDDC Junior Achievement Award & Outstanding
Student Award.
BLACK & WHITE FUNDRAISING DINNER
Wow! What a fantastic night. We were simply knocked out by how
warmly and openly our school community supported this event.
We must thank, once again, all of those who so generously contributed
amazing prizes and auction items.
Over $6,000 was raised which will go towards student programs
and resources.
The fundraising dinner will now be a regular event on our annual
calendar.
AUDITION SUCCESS
Earlier this year CDDC Full Time Student Georgia Powley successfully
auditioned for the Australian Ballet School’s Interstate/International
Training Programme.
Georgia will continue her training with CDDC
in 2012 and will compliment this by attending classes at the
Australian Ballet School each school holidays. Congratulating
to Georgia on her achievement.
We also congratulate our graduating Year 12 Students Georgii Bolton,
Emily De Margheriti and Elaine Griffiths and wish them every success.
CDDC’S MASTERCLASS SERIES
We continued our wonderful 2011 series of these events in September
when we once again worked with the wonderful Brittany Larrimer
from Ajkun Ballet Theatre New York.
A number of CDDC students have been offered places in Ajkun’s International
Programs for 2012. We are pleased to be able to continue to offer
our students this exciting opportunity.
We were also honoured to also have the opportunity to work with
Vicki Attard former Principal Dancer with the Australian Ballet
during November.
Our Masterclass Series will continue in 2012 with some exciting
guest teachers planned.
PERFORMANCE GROUPS & YOUTH
BALLET
It has been a big year with performances at Belconnen Theatre,
Belconnen Markets, Pumps for Patch at Erindale Theatre, City
of Sydney Eisteddfod, Weetangera Fete, Spence Community Festival,
Black & White Fundraising Dinner and more!
2012 Junior, Senior and Advanced Performance Groups have been announced,
congratulations everyone. Group lists are posted to our Studio
noticeboard.
2011 Performance Groups will perform
first week back on Sunday
12th February at the National Multicultural Festival. Please put
this advance date in your diary.
